Disney Shanghai Hotel - Shanghai, China 2012 to 2014
The Art Nouveau-inspired carpet designs blend culturally applicable colors and motifs to create uniquely themed custom patterns. These patterns were developed in specific sizes to fit the building architecture and then flooded into the CAD plans. D Three collaborated with the WDI Glendale design team, referencing all interior materials to create cohesive, unique interior spaces.

Disney's Grand Floridian Hotel - Orlando, Florida 2008
D Three designed this flagship hotel lobby carpet to reflect the grandeur of Victorian interior. Consisting of 24 colors, woven Axminster wool/nylon yarns, it was a remarkable achievement. All new, authentic period-themed furniture & fabrics created a truly exceptional lobby experience.

Disney's Tokyo Disneyland Hotel - Chiba, Japan 2005 to 2007
In collaboration with KNA Design in Los Angeles and Disney senior management, D Three designed over 30 custom carpets for guest rooms, restaurants, and public spaces. This included travel to two Japanese carpet mills to work with in-house design staff. D Three art-directed production of guest room and corridor mock-up carpet during fabrication at the mill. Complete presentation boards and specifications package were submitted to WDI Japan.

Disneyland Hotel 3 Towers Lobbies Renovation - Anaheim, California 2005
Disney called us with only six months remaining before the 5/5/2005 Disneyland 50th Anniversary Celebration. For the event, we were tasked with a complete renovation of the three Disneyland hotel tower lobbies.
Due to the quick turnaround, conceptual design included a quick overhaul with Disney elements drawn from the park. We included character images in carved wood, drapery, wall covering, and upholstery. We met Disney’s high-traffic quality standards while supplying every FF&E design selection, all custom design, tracked manufacturing of all furniture, wall covering, upholstery, drapery, carpet, and signage, all installed prior to opening day.

Disneyland Hotel Princess Diaries 2 Suite - Anaheim, California 2004
(Direct quote from Donna) On a Wednesday morning, the Vice President of Disneyland Resorts in Anaheim called to ask me to create a Princess Diaries Suite, after reading in the local newspaper that this suite was due to open Saturday morning of the coming weekend. I arrived in Anaheim in 90 minutes after hanging up the phone to see what needed to be done. In three days, a Disney Creative Director and I transformed a typical suite into a place fit for a princess guest to lay her head. Utilizing Disneyland trades departments, we painted, sewed, shopped, found, and forged everything we could to make this happen. I coordinated with the movie set designers to install the original set props and furnishings. I tracked down and sourced the originally rented artwork in the movie suite and had it re-rented for the opening.
At 5:00 a.m. Saturday morning after finishing the final touches on the suite, as I exited the elevator to the lobby, I came face to face with Julie Andrews as she was entering the elevator to go up to the suite to prepare for her interview. Whew! Another Disney crisis averted.
Later that day, a text message from the VP DL Resorts said it all: “WHAT? HOW? THE SUITE LOOKS INCREDIBLE!!”.

Disneyland Hotel Steakhouse 55 - Anaheim, California 2004
This quick internal refresh steakhouse-themed project exceeded leadership expectations and came in under budget. D Three visited Disney Archives and selected images of Walt and numerous Hollywood celebrities. We secured the original vintage photos, digitally edited out all cigarettes, and replaced black and white with sepia tone. These images were then printed large scale on canvas to provide the dramatic artwork. The carpet graphically resembles steam that would appear when steak is placed on a hot grill. The light fixtures in the private dining room were custom designed and fabricated. This design has been mimicked many times over the years. We collaborated with restaurant management and kitchen personnel to inform us of traffic flow, proper furniture scale and lighting codes and restrictions. This was a fast-paced project with minimal loss of restaurant revenue.

Disneyland Hotel Hook's Pointe Restaurant & Wine Cellar - Anaheim, California
This project was a renovation of a 70's traditional Sea Port Restaurant into a 21st century, upbeat, sophisticated environment where both children and adults felt comfortable dining within the overall themed presence of Captain Hook. With a clever use of color, special finishes and materials, we achieved a sand meets water meets horizon ambiance. Warm wood furniture and custom-built prop pieces evoking ground, glass and terrazzo and custom fabrics suggesting water movement, all rising up and melting into a bursting sunset of color on the faux-finished walls. Organized and collaborated with Disney trades, both creative and management.

Disneyland Hotel Goofy's Kitchen - Anaheim, California
In the creation of Goofy's Kitchen, we visualized an environment that conveyed the "essence" of the Goofy character through color, shape, and material, providing a space that was fun for children and comfortable for adults. The custom carpet design echoes the interior’s bursts of energy and chaos while hiding soiling. The intentional over-scaled banquets, wavy partition walls, water jet-cut floor tiles, and backlit dropped "splat" ceiling panels all accent the Goofy influence. We managed and coordinated the construction process, oversaw the installation of all trades, and practiced strong "value engineering" techniques to meet budget constraints.

Tokyo Disneyland Queen of Hearts Restaurant - Chiba, Japan 1997 to 2003
This restaurant is a unique "interior show set" with a strong understanding of the Disney brand. We utilized durable materials and finishes that were strong enough for kids and high traffic while maintaining a level of style and interest that appeals to adults. We designed fun and functional custom furniture, pushed the wacky limits of interior architectural details while balancing a tight budget and strict deadlines. We reviewed field documents for accuracy and wrote CAD specification finish lists. We traveled to Japan for a successful presentation to the Oriental Land Company.
